  Open Gardens in South East Queensland

FREE GUIDED WALKS - Take advantage of the expertise of volunteer guides by taking one of these free guided walks. Bookings are not required. Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha, 152 Mount Coot-tha Rd, Mount Coot-tha. City Botanic Gardens, Alice St, Brisbane City. Roma Street Parklands, 1 Parkland Boulevard, Roma Street Parkland, Brisbane City. Guided walks of approximately 1 hour duration depart from the visitors centre hub at each location daily at 11am and 1pm (except Sunday and public holidays).

Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, 230 Ashmore Rd, Benowa. Volunteers offer free guided walks on the 1st Sunday and 3rd Wednesday of the month and at other times by prior arrangement. Guided walks for special interest groups are also available for a small fee. Phone 0449 561 674.

Cairns Botanic Gardens, 78-96 Collins Ave, Edge Hill. Free guided walks of 1-1.5hrs duration depart from the Friends House, Monday- Friday at 10am.

Many regional parks and botanic gardens offer self-guided walks that locals and visitors can take at their leisure. Maps and information are available onsite.

Monthly Meetings

Northern Districts Horticultural Society’s Monthly Meetings. If you are a garden lover or gardener and you would like to increase and share your knowledge you would be most welcome to attend the Northern Districts Horticultural Society’s Monthly Meetings held on the last Monday of each month. We meet at the Wavell Heights Community Hall in Edinburgh Castle Road, Wavell Heights. Meetings include a Guest Speaker, display and judging of member’s entries of flowers, pot plants, floral art, fruit/veg and cooking. Visitors welcome. Info Noel Prior: ph. Floral Art Society of Queensland Inc. is a society for those who love flower arranging and floral design. The society & aims to promote participation & enjoyment of Floral Art through floral shows, displays & demonstrations. Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each Month at 9.30 a.m. at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha Auditorium, Mt. Coot-tha Road Toowong. Admission of $7.00 per meeting is payable at the door and a lucky door ticket is issued to each person attending the meeting. Tea and coffee is available before the meeting. Cactus & Succulent Society of Qld Inc. Meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at the Salisbury Senior Citizens Centre, 87 Cripps st, Salisbury. The Society For Growing Potted Plants Inc. Meets 2nd Saturday of each month (except January) Time: 1.15pm. Uniting Church Hall, 52 Merthyr Road, New Farm. The Stafford Garden Club. The OES Hall, cnr Kitchener Rd and Bohland St, Kedron. The club meets every third Thursday of each month (Feb to Nov). We meet at 9.30am to have a cuppa, to buy from the trade table and to view displays. Our meeting starts at 10 am. Our motto is: “Friendship through Gardening”. Visitors are welcome.

North Moreton Qld Orchid Council Inc Summer Orchid Show. The Auditorium, Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, Toowong. See beautiful orchids of many varieties on both sales and competition tables. Get cultural advice on your purchases. Repotting demonstrations held throughout the show to teach some of the basics of orchid care. Buy all your orchid growing needs at the trade tables. Sale of assorted crafts by "Be Uplifted" breast cancer support group. Light refreshments for sale. Open Sat 8.30am-3.30pm, Sun 8.30am-3pm. Entry: Adults $4, Children under 14 years free. Bromeliad Society of Queensland Bromeliad & Tropicals Show & Sales. Belmont Shooting Complex, 1485 Old Cleveland Road, Belmont. From bromeliads, tillandsias, indoor plants and tropical's, you’ll find all sorts of greenery to suit novice gardeners to experienced green thumbs. Monster Raffle to win $500 worth of plants, learn about bromeliads at the Bromeliad Basics Information Session and view the amazing competition plants. Family friendly with plant-minding and refreshments available. Entry $4 per person, includes entry into the Lucky Door Prize of $100 worth of plants. Free entry for children under 15 years old. Floressence 2019. Metcalfe Gallery, Brisbane Institute of Art, 41 Grafton St, Albion. Open 10am-4pm daily. Free entry. An exhibition of contemporary botanical art by members of the Botanical Artists’ Society of Queensland. The exhibition will feature artists demonstrating at the exhibition and displays by Robyn Bauer Artist-in-Residence at the Brisbane Botanical Gardens ad Nicole Crosswell, Illustrator Queensland Herbarium. The Tropical Foliage Festival 2019. Belmont Shooting Complex, 1485 Old Cleveland Road Belmont. We've organised an incredible variety of tropical foliage plants including new release, rare plants and old favourites offering the best quality cordylines, bromeliads, gingers, costas, heliconias, orchids, palms and much more. Experienced growers and garden experts will be on hand to answer all your questions. There will be plant displays and a monster raffle. The event will be fully catered. Orchid Species Society Show. Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Auditorium. Be captivated by a display of orchid species from Australia and other parts of the world, some rare and near extinction. Open Saturday 8.30am-4pm) and Sunday 9am-3.30pm. As well as the displays, orchids will be available for sale and experts will be on hand to provide advice on orchid culture. Entry is only $4.00.
